JUDICIAL TRAINING ON FORENSIC EVIDENCE - FACILITY TOUR
The PNP Forensic Group had the distinct honor of welcoming the participants of the Judicial Training on Forensic Evidence for the culminating activity of their five-day learning program through a facility tour at the PNP Forensic Group Headquarters on July 31, 2026.
The activity was formally opened and concluded by PBGEN PIERRE PAUL F CARPIO, Director, PNP Forensic Group, who underscored the importance of strengthening the partnership between the judiciary and the forensic community in advancing the fair and effective administration of justice.
The PNP Forensic Group was privileged to host distinguished members of the judiciary led by Hon. Jose Lorenzo R. Dela Rosa, Associate Justice of the Court of Appeals and Chairperson of the Technical Working Group on Module Development for Forensic Evidence Training and the participating Justices of Sandiganbayan and Judges of Courts.
Also in attendance were distinguished guests from the Australian Aid–supported FAIR Justice Program, namely Justice John Champion of the Supreme Court of Victoria, Dr. David Ranson of Monash University, and Ms. Megan Styles, Barrister of Tasmania and Victoria, together with representatives from the Philippine Judicial Academy (PHILJA) and the Committee Secretariat.During the facility tour, participants visited the PNP Forensic Group’s laboratories and operational facilities, where they gained firsthand insight into forensic technologies, scientific methodologies, and evidence processing procedures that support criminal investigations and the pursuit of justice.The activity reaffirmed the shared commitment of the judiciary and the forensic community to uphold the rule of law through credible, objective, and scientifically grounded forensic evidence.

PNP Forensic DNA Analyst’s Testimony Leads to Acquittal in High-Profile Rape Case in Nueva Vizcaya
The breakthrough came through the testimony of Police Lieutenant Colonel (PltCol) Angeline B. Amangan, Forensic DNA Analyst of Regional Forensic Unit (RFU) 2, whose examination proved that Aguilar was not the biological father of the child involved in the case. Her findings, supported by DNA Laboratory Report DNA-RFU2-001-25, provided conclusive scientific evidence that led to the Court’s decision.
Official Launching of the PNP Forensic Group Administrative and Operations Manual (AOM)
On August 11, 2025, at 3:00 PM, the PNP Forensic Group (FG) proudly launched its Administrative and Operations Manual (AOM) at the PNPFG Maringal Hall, Camp BGen Rafael T Crame, Quezon City. This milestone event was presided over by PGEN NICOLAS D TORRE III, Chief, PNP, ably represented by PLTGEN BERNARD M BANAC, The Deputy Chief PNP for Administration.
The annual meeting and symposium of the Asian Forensic Science Network (AFSN) have consistently provided invaluable platforms for forensic professionals across the Asia-Pacific region. This year’s event was held from August 26 to 30, 2024, at the Royal Thai Navy Convention Hall in Bangkok, Thailand that brought together the 595 forensic scientists from 18 member countries. The symposium facilitated substantial discussions, collaboration, and knowledge exchange on forensic science advancements, with an emphasis on integrating forensic, humanitarian, and technological progress.

The 15th Asian Forensic Sciences Network (AFSN) Annual Meeting and Symposium from September 11 to 15, 2023 held at Pullman Hotel City Centre, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Attended by 400 members coming from the different member institutes from 18 countries wherein it is a platform for forensic scientist in Asia to come together to discuss, share and advance forensic science with this year’s theme, “Light and Shadow: Technology vs Evidence.
As the current AFSN President, PBGEN CONSTANCIO T CHINAYOG, JR delivered an inspirational message encouraging each member institutes to continue its meaningful collaborations as it strengthens forensic sciences across the Asian regions.
The symposium formally marked its opening with the lighting of the AFSN sphere led by the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation of Malaysia, Hon. Chang Lih Kang together with Madam Halimah Abdul Rahim, Vice-President AFSN, Dr. Angeline Yap, International Liaison AFSN, and PBGEN CONSTANCIO T CHINAYOG JR, AFSN President.
